the Travel Industry

When it comes to garnering awards, Sandals Resorts International has made an impressive showing in 2012, with a steady stream of awards flowing in from travel industry events throughout the year. The company was awarded a total of 12 accolades at this year's World Travel Awards' Caribbean & The Americas Ceremony, held on September 14, 2012 at Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages & Spa. This is the most awards ever won by Sandals Resorts International in one year and is a testament to the continued evolution of the brand and its resorts.

"We are honored to receive the highest number of awards in Sandals Resorts' history," said Gordon 'Butch' Stewart, Chairman of Sandals Resorts International. In addition to winning a record-breaking number of awards, Sandals Resorts International once again received the distinguished title of Caribbean's Leading Hotel Brand for the 19th year in a row.

Capping the impressive showing, the World Travel Awards further honored Sandals Resorts when it presented Adam Stewart, CEO of Sandals Resorts International, with the organization's Rising Star Award. Recognizing individuals who are making a difference at a young age in the tourism industry, the Rising Star Award is a true testament to Stewart's many accomplishments.

Sandals Resorts International was honored with a combination of Six Star and Five Star Diamond Awards, 22 by the American Academy of Hospitality Sciences.The International Star Diamond Award is one of the most prestigious emblems of achievement and is awarded to exclusive recipients throughout the world. Nominations are routinely submitted by world travelers and industry professionals. All decisions of the Academy are based solely on whether the nominee demonstrates a commitment to excellence in luxury and service within its industry's specific category and classification, including hospitality, attitude, quality, and cleanliness.

Top Travel Magazines Single Out Sandals for AwardsMagellan

Condé Nast Traveler has honored two Sandals Resorts with the 2012 Readers' Choice Awards. Sandals Whitehouse European Village & Spa received two awards as part of the annual "Best in the World" poll:
"Top 15 Hotels & Resorts in the Caribbean" coming in at number 10, and "Top 30 Resorts in the Caribbean" coming in at number 4. In addition to this fantastic honor, Sandals Emerald Bay, Great Exuma, Bahamas also joined the rankings being awarded number 9 in the "Top 12 Resorts in the Atlantic Ocean" list.

Sandals also received six Travel Weekly Magellan Awards, which honor the best in the travel industry.
